The Phillies have made another addition to their already formidable batting lineup by signing Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia. The 32-year-old was signed to a one-year, $10 million deal amid rumors that outfielder Nick Castellanos is on his way out of Philadelphia.

Garcia played an instrumental role in the 2023 World Series run by the Rangers that saw him being rewarded with an ALCS MVP and Gold Glove. In 2025, he posted a .227/.271/.394 slash with 19 home runs and 75 runs batted in. Upon hearing the news, Phillies fans couldn't contain their glee and shared on social media how excited they are about the team's newest acquisition.

After starting off his professional career in Cuba, Garcia spent one year in Japan's NPB with the powerhouse Yomiuri Giants. In 2018, he made his MLB debut for the Cardinals but spent just half a season there.

Ahead of the 2020 season, he was dealt to the Rangers where he would establish his name as a major leaguer. In 745 games for the team, he tallied 141 home runs and 458 RBIs, including an unforgettable first World Series title with the franchise.

Solid signing! Let’s see if this helps push the offense

love seeing adolis on the move excited for this

That's niceBet he struck a good bargain

Garcia is expected to be a wall of protection in the lineup that features star sluggers Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. Another thing to watch out for is if he will be used as a platoon bat or if he would be regularly deployed in the outfield as he's got a rocket of an arm as per Baseball Savant, Garcia is in the 92nd percentile among major leaguers in terms of arm strength.

Phillies extend star Kyle Schwarber's contract

Amidst all the buzz on the free agency market, the Phillies forked out $150 million to keep star Kyle Schwarber in Philadelphia for five more years. Announced on December 9, Schwarber's contract extension came off the back of a sensational slugging season that saw him lead the National League in home runs.

The 32-year-old finished the season with 56 home runs, a .928 OPS, and led all major league batters in runs batted in with 132. His superb form, along with contributions by teammates on both sides of the ball saw the Phillies win the NL East after the Mets led the division for a majority of the season.

After posting a 96-66 record, Philly earned a bye to the division series as the second seed in the National League. However, they would be unceremoniously eliminated by the defending champion Dodgers after just four games.
