Fever linked to Cameron Brink trade to join Caitlin Clark as 2024 WNBA Draft top picks

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft was Caitlin Clark to the Indiana Fever.

The Los Angeles Sparks had the second pick and chose Cameron Brink.

Now, those two could be paired together, if a trade idea getting around comes to fruition.

USA Today's Mitchell Northam wrote in a new article on Tuesday that it could make sense for the Fever to go after Brink in a trade.

The former Stanford University star would be a big boost to the frontcourt in Indiana.

"Los Angeles hasn't been the best fit for former Stanford star Brink, perhaps a change of scenery could help," Northam writes. "The Fever need depth in the frontcourt as they’re not getting much production from Myisha Hines-Allen or Damiris Dantas. Brink could be a pick-and-roll partner for Caitlin Clark or Kelsey Mitchell, and rim-run when the Fever run their offense through point-forward Aliyah Boston. This could be fun, but Brink also won’t be cheap to acquire."

The acquisition cost would be the whole key here. 

The Sparks could be looking at a potential rebuild if they decide to trade Kelsey Plum's expiring contract before the deadline. If that happens, they'll have to choose if they want to fully sell.

Brink may make sense as a future asset in L.A., but since the fit hasn't been great, maybe the Sparks are better off getting what they can while Brink still has value.

She's a fascinating player, capable of shooting the ball and scoring inside while also providing great rim protection when she isn't fouling.

Brink has flaws, but it's early in her career, and maybe paired with the likes of Clark, Mitchell and Boston, she could grow into a key WNBA contributor on a really good team.
