Fever projected to draft 'unblockable' center to pair with Caitlin Clark

The 2027 WNBA Draft is going to be loaded -- and even though the Indiana Fever should have one of the league's better win-loss records this season, the franchise should be able to add real value late in the first round of next April's draft.

Bleacher Report's Hunter Cruse has lodged a prediction that the Fever will take Kentucky's 6'5'' center Clara Strack with their first-round selection come 2027.

Based on the current lottery order, the Fever would pick 11th in next year's draft -- and Strack has a lot of variance in terms of where she could go, meaning Indiana could well be in position to select her late in the first round.

Strack led the SEC in blocks in 2024/25 and averaged 16.9 points per game as a junior last year. Despite her size, she doesn't "play with much physicality" according to Cruse, but she does have an "unblockable post fadeaway" and has shown potential on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers.

For the Fever, pairing Strack with Caitlin Clark would make for an intriguing duo. Strack's growth as a shooter, combined with her ability to protect the rim, could see her compete immediately for minutes with Aliyah Boston, Indiana's four-time All-Star at center.

However, at such an early stage of the process, it's unknown whether Strack would even be available at this point in the draft -- or whether she could fall out of the first round.
