Though they played well in the regular season, making it to the playoffs after finishing with a 90-72 record, Fernando Tatis Jr., Luis Arraez, Tyler Wade and the San Diego Padres failed to make it far into October, crashing out of the postseason after losing their wild-card series clash against the Chicago Cubs.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that the Padres were deciding against picking up Tyler Wade's $1 million club option for the 2026 season, spelling an end to the 30-year-old's stint at Petco Park.
Wade took to Instagram on Thursday to post a farewell message, thanking the city and their fans.

Fernando Tatis Jr. wins second Gold Glove award
In 2025, Fernando Tatis Jr. was one of the San Diego Padres' most influential offensive players, ending the regular season with a .286 batting average, along with 25 home runs and 71 RBIs.
Alongside his offensive contributions, Tatis' outstanding defense in right field has also proven to be a great asset for his team. On Sunday, November 2, Tatis was rewarded for his strong defense, winning his second Gold Glove award ahead of Sal Frelick of the Milwaukee Brewers and Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Key stats that influenced his big win were his 16.3 SABR Defensive Index score and 15 defensive runs saved.
