Antonio Brown arrest: Ex-Steelers WR extradited to U.S. from Middle East over attempted murder charge

Antonio Brown continues to make headlines - for the wrong reasons.On Thursday, the former multiple-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl wide receiver was arrested for attempted murder in relation to his involvement in a shooting after a boxing event in May.

As per spokesperson Mike Vega, he was in Dubai at the time of the arrest and was subsequently flown to Essex, New Jersey, to await extradition to Miami, where the crime took place.

According to his initial arrest warrant, on May 17, shortly after a boxing event head by streamer Adin Ross, Brown grabbed a handgun from a security guard and fired twice at a certain Zul-Qarnain Nantambu, whom he had had a physical altercation with. The victim said one of the bullets grazed his neck.

Adult star Alina Rose was among those in the vicinity, and she posted a video of herself seeing the former Pittsburgh Steelers star with his gun and hearing him fire shots:

Nantambu could not be found after the incident, leading to Brown's release. Speaking to TMZ some days after, Nantambu said the attack was financially motivated - more particularly by a legal judgment stemming from when Brown stole jewelry from him while they were in Dubai to watch a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight:

"I reminded him of the failure, and that's when the attack happened."

After the warrant was issued, "AB" fled the country.

Police issue statements on Antonio Brown's arrest for attempted murder

After Antonio Brown's arrest, the Miami Police Department issued this statement:

"This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police Detectives, working closely with Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami."

Meanwhile, chief of police Manuel Morales gave this warning in the wake of the arrest:

"Let this serve as a clear message: No matter who you are or where you run, we will pursue the facts, identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice. To anyone even considering committing a crime in Miami — know this: We will find you."

Brown faces up to 15 years behind bars and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
