Ninth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime will square off against Daniel Altmaier in the third round of the Paris Masters 2025.

Auger-Aliassime staged a comeback to beat Francisco Comesana 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-3 in his opener here. He was up against home favorite Alexandre Muller in the second round. Both players remained steady on serve until the very end, when the Canadian faltered while trying to force a tie-break, thus conceding the set.

Auger-Aliassime rallied from a break down to level the score in the second set. He managed to take the set to a tie-break this time, and came out on top in it to force a decider. The third set also went down to the wire, with the Canadian gaining the upper hand in the tie-break to complete a 5-7, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) comeback win.

Altmaier beat Marcos Giron 6-2, 7-6 (5) to reach the second round, where eighth seed Casper Ruud awaited him. The German was quick off the blocks, moving to a 3-0 lead in the first set. He didn't let his good headstart go to waste and eventually claimed the set.

Altmaier was on the cusp of victory after he went up a break in the second set and stepped up to serve for the match in the 10th game. Ruud played a fantastic game to stop his rival from wrapping up the proceedings. However, Altmaier broke back immediately in the next game, and closed out the match on his second try for a 6-3, 7-5 win.

Auger-Aliassime staged a comeback for the second consecutive match to keep his Paris Masters campaign alive. He needs a deep run here in order to have a shot at qualifying for the ATP Finals. He blasted 50 winners compared to 24 unforced errors in the previous round.

Altmaier simply loves playing in Paris. He has six wins over top 10 players throughout his career, and four of them have come in the French capital. Ruud was his latest scalp, and he smacked 25 winners against just eight unforced errors to send him packing.

While Altmaier has a winning record against Auger-Aliassime, he has never beaten two top 10 players in the same tournament. The latter has also reached at least the quarterfinals of his last five tournaments. The Canadian's recent consistency should help him get over the finish line despite being pushed to the brink throughout the week so far.
