Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha Share the Secrets Behind That Steamy Staircase Scene
This story contains spoilers for the first half of Bridgerton season four.
Dearest gentle reader, how closely were you watching Bridgerton?
As some fans have pointed out following the Jan. 29 season four premiere, there appears to be at least one editing error in the Netflix show, as Katie Leung—who plays Araminta, the evil stepmother of Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha)— can be seen in the first episode sporting a small, flesh colored Band-Aid on her left ear to cover her cartilage piercing.
As a user wrote in the caption of their Jan. 31 TikTok calling out the flub, “Bandaids in this era?! The ton want to know.”
Another added in the comments, “I wish they had covered it better—like put a fancy ear cuff up there or something.”
Despite the Band-Aid being very small, others noticed it too, with one person on TikTok writing, “Okay, so I wasn't crazy when I saw that?”
And Katie isn’t the only person to have an earring error on the series, as one user pointed out, “I saw another post where an actresses [sic] cartilage piercing wasn't covered or edited out during the garden party I believe and people were going nuts over it.”

While neither Katie nor Netflix has commented on the goof, the Harry Potter alum did recently share what it was like for her tapping into Araminta, who only finds out that Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of her new husband the Earl of Penwood after their nuptials.
“It’s definitely not hard for me to understand where she’s coming from, especially because the backstory was already there,” the 38-year-old shared with Deadline in January. “I didn’t really have to imagine it. We could play it out and see the result of it. And that’s a beautiful thing.”
And as Katie explained, it’s because of her that Sophie and Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) are separated in the first place, adding that Araminta, “is powerful and dominating.”

Still, Katie did her best to find the humanity in the character instead of playing her like a caricature of an evil stepmother, as Julia Quinn’s book An Offer From a Gentlemen—on which this season is based—is a loose Cinderella adaptation.
“She has this other side of her,” she explained, “that is—deep down—she is going through a lot, and we get to see some of those moments when she was betrayed. Those traumatic events that really shape who you become. It’s a rare opportunity for an actor, really, to be able to go through that experience with their character. I was lucky enough to be able to do that with Araminta.”
