Orange kitten with blue eyes rests on a white blanket.

  • 02

My mom found this lovely little kitten on a dirt road in the country this past Saturday. The owners had dropped her off on

  • 03

the side of the road with a large tub of dry food for her to fend for herself. She looks to be about 6- 8 months old.

  • 04

You may not be surprised because the photo, but I sure was when my mom called and said she thinks this orange cat is a

  • 05

girl. When we looked at her, we figured it was a girl and she was possibly in labour as she was panting heavily and had a huge belly.

  • 07

Thankfully she was not in labour that day, she was very stressed out but calmed down quickly. This gave my mom a couple days to prep the spare room for this

  • 08

kitten to give birth. I figured since her belly was so big she'd give birth any day. I was not prepared for how fast this day would come.

  • 09

Monday rolls around and my mom leaves the house for about an hour to do some errands. When she comes back she's surprised to see the kitten (now

  • 10

named Sunny) is in labour. She stayed by her the rest of her labour to make sure it all went okay.

  • 11

Unfortunately, 1 kitten did not make it, and another kitten is not looking so good. But little Sunny looks like she will have 3 healthy

  • 12

babies. The three babies are active and rooting. Luckily, Sunny didn't seem to be too stressed during her labour, and it was quick.

  • 13

We will definitely be getting Sunny spayed once it is okay to do so, and when the kittens are old enough, they will be able to be adopted (probably through the local humane society).

  • 14

How I wish I could take one of the babies, but I already have two cats. I'm so grateful that Sunny wasn't lost on the side of the

  • 15

road to give birth to her litter out in the bushes. She wouldn't have made it with all of the predators around. She's a strong little lady!

Mexicali76 She must have been so stressed and scared thinking she had a place to give birth and then have that taken away from her and given only one day to figure it out with no shelter and unfamiliar surroundings.

    )

  • Sunny's whole world changed in just a couple of days. Instead of searching for a safe place to have her kittens, she got one. No predators, no wondering where her next meal would come from, just a warm room and people making sure she and her babies were okay.

KBWordPerson That's a whole lotta orange

Regular-Forever-3251 Awwww Good job mama cat!!!! Wishing you and your babies good health and a happy fun life! <3

  • 21

humsterdaddy What a good mama! She said "copy+paste" with all her gorgeous babies! She'll probably stay pretty small, my girl had kittens at 6 months and she's barely six pounds at almost 3 years

  • 22

old. Being pregnant so young takes a lot away from their own development but she'll be just fine. She looks so proud of her babies!

  • Sunny definitely wasn't kidding when she said, "Copy my homework, just don't make it obvious." Every kitten looks like a tiny little version of their mama, from the orange fluff to those sweet little faces. It's like she photocopied herself a few times and called it a day. As they get bigger, it'll be fun to see if they keep the matching looks or if a few goofy little quirks start showing up alongside all that adorable orange fluff.

nofishies Congratulations OP! This is the only orange kitty I have seen that looks like she has multiple brain cells!! And she found you she's an orange Einstein!

  • The real question is whether these four will each develop their own brain cell, or if they'll end up taking turns with the same one. Orange cats already have a reputation for sharing a single communal thought, and this little crew isn't exactly beating the allegations. On the bright side, if one of them figures something out, maybe they'll remember to pass the brain cell along before it's time for the next adventure.
