The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a season in which they were in prime position to win the NFC South for the first time in years. However, that momentum quickly faded as Kirk Cousins fell into a drastic slump, opening the door for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to take over as the primary starter.
Cousins has been a major topic of discussion this offseason, with uncertainty still surrounding whether he will be traded. For now, it appears Atlanta plans to hold on to their former starting quarterback.
Another area of uncertainty for the Falcons is the future of tight end Kyle Pitts. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, this season could be make-or-break for him. While there have been multiple trade rumors, recent comments from offensive coordinator Zac Robinson suggest Pitts is staying put.
“I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump," Robinson said. "You know, Year 2 of the system. Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively. All those things that come with it, so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle.”
Robinson also emphasized that Pitts will be utilized more traditionally as a tight end rather than being split out wide as often.
“Kyle is a tight end first,” Robinson added. “So first and foremost, we use Kyle as a tight end. He played with his hand in the dirt more than he had in the past last year. We want to continue to develop his tight end skills,” Robinson added.

Pitts has had an up-and-down start to his NFL career, with the one record he holds being one of the more unusual in league history. Pitts is set to make $10 million in his final year on contract. He's aiming for a breakout year and the payday that comes with it. With his offensive coordinator publicly backing him, trade rumors appear to be cooling off.
