The executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, Andrew Kolvet, recently opened up about the memorial service of the Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk. According to the BBC, tens of thousands of mourners gathered on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the State Farm Stadium near Phoenix, Arizona, for the memorial service of the American right-wing political activist.
While US President Donald Trump and other officials from his administration took turns delivering their speeches, the use of fireworks at Kirk’s memorial service has reportedly met with criticism.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, Andrew Kolvet addressed the fireworks display at Charlie’s memorial service. The executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show responded to a tweet from the X account Truth Seeker, which compared the memorial to a WWE script.
Sharing a video of Erika Kirk walking on the stage, the X account wrote:
“Why are there fireworks at the "memorial service" for Charlie Kirk? This is a WWE script…”Notably, Andrew Kolvet acknowledged the questioning about Charlie’s memorial service and wrote back on the social media platform, X.
“Because our staff loves the effect. They see it as one of our event signatures. And most importantly, Charlie loved it. We do not grieve the way the world grieves. We refuse to let the evil that killed Charlie rob us of our joy in remembering his incredible life and legacy,” Kolvet explained.Meanwhile, according to the BBC, Kirk's wife, Erika, also delivered a tearful speech at the State Farm Stadium. The American businesswoman and podcaster said that she had forgiven her husband’s alleged killer.
Donald Trump honors Charlie Kirk as a martyr
On Sunday, President Trump joined supporters in Arizona to honor the life and legacy of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The US politician, according to the BBC, hailed his late ally as a “great American hero” and “martyr” while delivering his speech.
According to CNN, Donald Trump was welcomed with cheers as he paid tribute to Kirk. Addressing the attack on the conservative activist, Trump said:
“The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us. That bullet was aimed at every one of us.”Meanwhile, the President of the United States also addressed his disagreement with Kirk on the latter’s view of wanting the best for his opponent.
“He was a missionary with a noble spirit and a great, great purpose. He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent. And I don’t want the best for them,” Trump said.
On the other hand, the widow of Charlie, Erika Kirk, also adressed her husband’s alleged killer nearly two weeks after he was assassinated. The 36-year-old CEO of the conservative organisation Turning Point USA reportedly forgave the suspect, Tyler Robinson and said:
“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life… I forgive him because it is what Christ did. The answer to hate is not hate.”For the unversed, Charlie Kirk was shot dead at the age of 31. At the time of the attack, the conservative political activist was reportedly addressing a large crowd at Utah Valley University.
