Ex-Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula inks $1.5 million-dollar NIL deal from non-CFP SEC team

According to On3, former Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula has agreed to a seven-figure deal to transfer to Missouri.

The news comes a little over a week after Pribula revealed his intention to transfer on social media following the Nittany Lions' 45-37 loss to Oregon.

"The current NCAA postseason model creates a challenge for student-athletes,” Pribula wrote. “The overlapping CFB Playoff & transfer portal timeline has forced me into an impossible decision. After speaking at length with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my intentions to enter the transfer portal and depart from the team to explore opportunities elsewhere.”

Pribula's situation became a major topic of discussion after Nittany Lions coach James Franklin openly sympathized with him, citing a "needing someone running college football" when it comes to the demand of the college football transfer portal, along with making quick-witted decisions when a team is in the College Football Playoff and attempting to push toward a national title.

Pribula heads to Columbia with tremendous upside. He is expected to play quickly and comes to one of the SEC's most underrated environments. The Tigers finished the regular season 9-3 and were on the verge of a College Football Playoff appearance if it weren't for losses late-season losses to Alabama and South Carolina.

The Tigers did enough to earn a Music City Bowl berth next Monday against Iowa. They are seeking back-to-back bowl victories, as they upset Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl last year.

Meanwhile, fresh off a rout against SMU, Penn State travels to Glendale to play Mountain West champion Boise State with a spot in the semifinals at stake.

Pribula's commitment to Missouri marks another wave of transfer portal hysteria, arguably taking over the sport for the foreseeable future.
