Ex-NBA player makes loud Doc Rivers statement after Bucks’ playoff collapse

Whenever it feels like a team under performs, someone usually takes the blame for it. Whether that be a player getting traded, a staff member being fired, or a change in the front office, sometimes there are consequences if expectations aren't met, regardless of the circumstances.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost in five games to the Indiana Pacers, marking their third straight season of losing in the first round. Head coach Doc Rivers took over in January of 2024, and while it hasn’t been all bad, losing to the same team in back to back years isn’t a good look.

This summer could end up being a massive transition year for the Bucks. With an aging roster, Damian Lillard sidelined for all of next season, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future being unknown, it might just make sense to restart everywhere.

Former NBA players Danny Green and Chandler Parsons shared their critiques on FanDuel TV's Run It Back, pointing out that there are several intriguing candidates on the market right now.

"If you're gonna fire your coach, now's the time to do it...Mike Malone,” Green said.

"Taylor Jenkins, Mike Brown,” Parsons said.

Like all things in life, context is everything. It’s not like Rivers has been coaching a championship favorite, although the roster stacks up with the upper echelon of the league when healthy.

Antetokounmpo missed the entire postseason in 2024, where the Pacers won in six games and Lillard missed two playoff games this year after tearing his achilles. There aren’t many names on the planet who would have done better under similar circumstances, if any.

While the odds have been stacked against Rivers, especially during the postseason since joining Milwaukee, someone is going to take the heat for it.
