ESPN snubs Colorado Buffaloes' Deion Sanders from top 10 college football head coaches list

Colorado had a decent 2024 season, but not enough to rank the Buffs among the top programs entering the 2025 season. And surely not enough to rank their head coach, Deion Sanders, among the top 10 college football head coaches.

ESPN dropped its list of the top 10 college football head coaches, and Sanders didn't secure a spot on it.

Georgia's Kirby Smart led the list, followed by Ryan Day, Dabo Swinney, Marcus Freeman, Steve Sarkisian, Dan Lanning, Kalen DeBoer, James Franklin, Kyle Whittingham, and Matt Campbell.

Sanders received 3 votes, the same as Lane Kiffin and Josh Heupel, who failed to make the cut.

Other names like Brian Kelly, Curt Cignetti, and Chris Klieman were also missing.

Recently, Sanders got into an online exchange with ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. over his criticism of his son Shedeur Sanders' draft ranking.

"But I Love u my man! You stood on the desk with great balance 10 toes down and said what u doggone said & didn’t flinch. You knew what time it was my man & we’re blessed to be right where God wanted us to be," the Buffs head coach wrote in his tweet defending Keiper for his opinion.

"With OPPORTUNITY, they forgot I was in the tv/entertainment business for 20 years before coaching."

With his star players, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, gone, this would be the year Sanders will have to put it all on the line for his program.

It will be a long shot just yet to claim that the Buffs would aim for the college football playoffs. But if they do and make it till there, Sanders would have a spot in the top 10 head coaches in the 2026 season.
