Erling Haaland reveals Manchester City must 'Adapt' following major squad overhaul

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has admitted that Pep Guardiola’s squad is no longer the same and must adjust after losing several influential figures.

The Norwegian has also acknowledged the responsibility now on his shoulders.

“A lot of important people left so new people have to come in and make a difference and people that have been here for years like me have to take more responsibility,” Haaland said to Sky Sports.

The summer saw Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker, Ederson and Manuel Akanji depart. Man City start in the League haven’t been like previous seasons with eight time EPL winner reeling at 16th place after defeats to Tottenham and Brighton.

The start follows a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that finished with a late rally to third place which is unusual for a team that had won four straight league titles before the setback.

"I have to guide the team, I have to help the new ones to come in as quick as possible, because it's not easy to come into a new country and perform straight away."

"We need to help each other. We need to understand that the past is the past and we're not the same team anymore. We have to use it in a positive way. We have other qualities now and we have to adapt."

"In the end, the most important thing is we have to win games."

Man City will host Man United in the derby on September 14 and the Cityzens held the upper hand over the Red Devils in the last five games.
