On the carpet at the Emmys, Stephen Colbert told Live From E!: 2025 Emmys about the “really good time” he and his Late Show staff are planning for their final months on the CBS series.
Emmys 2025: Stephen Colbert Teases End of His Late Night Show (Exclusive)
Stephen Colbert’s remaining time on his late night talk show will absolutely be a laughing matter.
As the TV host, who is nominated for Outstanding Talk Series at the 2025 Emmys, heads into his final season helming The Late Show, he emphasized he and his staff are doing do with high spirits.
“We’ve got nine more months of the show and we’re going to have a really food time doing it,” Stephen told Zuri Hall on the red carpet on Live From E!: 2025 Emmys in a joint interview with his wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert. “This show is all consuming—every day. So that’s it for now.”
Beyond the energy, the 61-year-old—who is up against his former series The Daily Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live! In the category—admitted he would love to see his team take home the coveted statue at the Sept. 14 ceremony.
“The people who do the show teach me what it’s like to be a professional,” he explained, “and I would be very grateful if we could win for them because they deserve all the recognition they can get. Two hundred people do the show, not just me.”
He continued, “I get all the applause and I get all the fame—and I’m fine with that—but I also want them to get a little recognition.”
Back in July, CBS confirmed The Late Show With Stephen Colbert would be ending its run after a decade, citing a financial decision behind its cancelation. The long-running series, previously hosted by David Letterman, is set to sign off in May 2026.

And as Stephen steers his crew into their last journey together, his wife of 32 years couldn’t help but gush over how he sets the tone.
“The way he’s such a great leader, the kindness with which he runs his show,” Evie shared of what she admires about him. “They are 200 friends, and they love each other so much. I don’t think anybody has a sense of what it’s like to work there unless you’re backstage and hey work for each other in such a beautiful way.”
And that beautiful work ethic will continue for a bit longer. For all the stars on the red carpet at the 2025 Emmys, keep reading.
