Kevin Durant is set to play for his fifth NBA team next season, after being traded away to the Houston Rockets.
Durant is widely regarded as an all-time great, but some believe his legacy is being tinted since he continues to hop from team to team.
One person decided to make an NBA legacy formula that takes that into account.

What is the NBA legacy formula?
The NBA legacy formula was made up by sports analyst and former NFL player Emmanuel Acho.
Here's the formula:
Championships won ÷ Teams played for = Player Legacy
It rewards players for being able to win, while simultaneously staying loyal.

If a player chooses to leave their team but wins elsewhere, then it doesn't hurt your score as much, but it still lowers their score.
The more a player moves, the harder it is to maintain a high score.
Players like Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan are at the top of the list, with 5.0 ratings since they won five rings, all with one team they played for in their careers.
LeBron has four rings, but since he's played for three teams, his rating is a 1.3.

Now, we know LeBron is a lot better than that rating, but the formula doesn't favor a player like him.
It all depends on the criteria and what people think is important in terms of legacy.
Should a player like Dirk Nowitzki, who won one ring with one team in his career, be 0.3 behind LeBron?
It all depends on the perspective.

Kevin Durant's score is just a 0.4, with now two rings among the five teams he has played for.
Durant fired back at Acho for this, posting on X, "According to The Great Kevin Durant’s legacy formula that was created in the best labs at MIT, Emmanuel is the worst linebacker of all time. You sure you wanna listen to this guy about greatness?"
Acho seems to have the basis of the right idea with a way to determine legacy with numbers, but the formula might need some adjustments.
