Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest man (as per Forbes), reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo winning the Best Middle East Player award at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Sunday (December 28).
The Al-Nassr striker, who scored his 40th goal of the year in a 3-1 Saudi Pro League home win over Al Akhdoud on Saturday, reiterated his desire to reach 1000 goals (as per beIN):
“My goal is still to score goals, win more trophies and keep pushing myself to achieve new personal targets. I will reach 1,000 goals for sure, if I stay injury-free."Ronaldo later tweeted after landing the accolade:
"A special moment to end the year on. I carry on with the same passion, commitment and hunger as always to reach my goals. Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year!"Musk, who has a net worth of $744.6 billion and also owns the social media platform X (formely called Twitter), responded to the tweet with a trophy emoji.
Ronaldo has also scored eight times in nine games for Portugal this year, three of them coming in the team's last three outings in their successful UEFA Nations League campaign.
The other goals came in their successful FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign, swelling his international tally to 143, 28 more than any other player.
"He's at a very good point in his career" - Portugal boss Roberto Martinez hails Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez reckons Cristiano Ronaldo is riding a purple patch despite being into his third decade as a professional player since making his debut in the early 2000s.
The Spaniard noted that the secret of Ronaldo's success lies in his short-term goals and making the most of every day as he sets his sight on becoming the first player to scale Mount 1000, telling Marca (via GOAL):
"He's at a very good point in his career. And he's achieved it because he lives in the moment. When he talks about his goals, he avoids long-term thinking: reaching 1,000 games, playing a certain number of matches. "His secret is being the best he can be today and enjoying each day. So, the number will be a consequence of the day he decides to retire. I don't think it's a goal."With his twin strikes for Al-Nassr on Saturday, Ronaldo has now scored a staggering 493 times since turning 30, the joint-most by any player.
