A member of the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX-winning team called it a career on Monday.

Cornerback Darius Slay posted a video on Instagram announcing his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons.

"Dear football, I wanna thank you for all you’ve done for me. I’ve been blessed to play the game I loved since I was 5yrs old for an amazing 13yrs at the highest level. Football was my peace, my joy, my everything. This game put me in a position to help take care of my family and loved ones and I’m forever grateful," Slay said. "

It’s hard to say goodbye, but God has a new chapter for me and I’m ready to turn the page and start my new journey. To all my BigPlay fans, I will always appreciate the love and support y’all have given to me. I couldn’t have done it without you. Just A kid from Brunswick, GA with BIG dreams... BigPlay on and off the field! We Out."

Slay was a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. The Mississippi State product spent seven seasons in Detroit, earning three Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro nod in 2017.

After the 2019 season, the Lions traded Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles. During his five-year tenure in Philadelphia, Slay added three more Pro Bowls and also appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one during the 2024 season.

Slay played 10 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025 before being waived by the team in December. He was picked up by the Buffalo Bills, but never appeared in a game with Buffalo.

After 13 seasons, Slay will now enjoy retirement after establishing himself as one of the best cornerbacks in recent memory. We wish the 35-year-old the best in his post-playing days and congratulate him on a stellar career.
