Eagles-Rams rumor from ESPN reveals players discussed in blockbuster trade talks

At this point, it's no secret that the Los Angeles Rams had an interest in trading for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, but that isn't the only wideout the teams discussed.

In fact, Rams general manager Les Snead even admitted Los Angeles inquired about Brown, but just couldn't get something done.

“We chatted with Philly, nothing worked out,” Snead said on PFT Live. “There were talks, we had discussions, didn’t work out. That happens.”

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there were also conversations about veteran wide receiver Davante Adams at the same time talks about Brown were happening.

"My sense is that multiple teams inquired about Adams, and a source from the player side believes the Rams and Eagles likely discussed Adams around the same time they explored the possibility of trading A.J. Brown to the Rams," Fowler reported.

"The exact nature of those talks is unknown, but Philadelphia was on the player's radar through all of this, though Adams wants to continue playing on the West Coast," Fowler added.

Was Adams in Rams' Brown trade package?

While Fowler didn't go into more detail, one could logically assume that the Eagles were interested in getting Adams back in a package for Brown.

That's because trading Brown would have left a gaping hole in the Eagles' offense, a hole Adams could have helped fill, even at this advanced stage in his career.

While Adams might not be the same player he once was at 33 years old, he still has some gas left in the tank after posting 789 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns last season while playing second fiddle to Puka Nacua.

It's conceivable Adams could still produce more without an elite receiver playing across from him, but at the very least Adams would have been a strong No. 2 alongside DeVonta Smith.

All that said, reports indicate that the Rams have pulled out of trade talks with the Eagles over Brown, which means Adams isn't going anywhere.

But it'll be interesting to see if the two sides revisit those talks after June 1, when the Eagles are expected to officially move Brown — if they move him at all — because the dead-cap hit comes down significantly.
