Eagles expected to get major reinforcements back for Week 17 game vs. Bills

Things seem to be trending in the right direction for the Philadelphia Eagles. After a three-game skid that led to some soul-searching, the Eagles have won two straight contests to push their season win total to 10. It’s the fourth straight season that the team has won double-digit games.

With their 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Saturday night, the Eagles officially clinched the NFC East for a second straight season and their fifth consecutive playoff berth.

Jalen Carter, Lane Johnson expected to return for Eagles

Plus, they’re expected to get some major reinforcements back on both sides of the line for the stretch run of the season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter and offensive tackle Lane Johnson are both expected back for Philadelphia’s Week 17 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Carter missed Philadelphia’s last three games after undergoing shoulder procedures. His return should help to solidify what has the potential to be a dominant defensive line for Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Johnson has missed five straight games due to a foot injury. His return should have a similar impact on the offensive line.

With those two guys expected to return to the active roster, the Eagles project to be pretty healthy heading into the postseason, barring any major issues popping up over the final two weeks of the regular season.

By locking up their division early, the Eagles afforded themselves an opportunity to rest some guys – and avoid any potential injuries – over the final couple of weeks. Final conference seeding is still in play, but the Eagles could opt to prioritize health over seeding, which would be understandable.

It remains to be seen what they’ll do in that regard, but we’ll learn more about their plan in the coming days. At the very least, it seems likely that they’ll rest starters in Week 18 against Washington. An argument could be made either way when it comes to the game against the Bills.
