Duet Night Abyss’ adorable Geniemon come in two varieties: Active Geniemon and Inactive Geniemon. The purpose of Active Geniemon is pretty obvious, because they are equipped, and hang out with you in and out of battle. They’re adorable, and have a variety of useful active abilities, as well as passive ones. When it comes to the Inactives, it’s a bit more confusing. They have their own part of the UI, and it doesn’t really explain what they do.
You may have a pile of Inactive Geniemon in Duet Night Abyss, and not even realize it. You may also accidentally be feeding them to your Active Geniemon, which is its own problem. If you’re struggling to figure this system out, we’re here to help you get it sorted.
How to use Inactive Geniemon in Duet Night Abyss
Inactive Geniemon are passive creatures in Duet Night Abyss that get equipped to your Active Geniemon, up to three at one time. Each Inactive Geniemon has its own special ability, from increased EXP, to even auto reeling in fish for you. These are all very fantastic, useful abilities, but they do nothing on their own. You can tell if a Geniemon is going to be active or inactive when you go to tame it, because it will state which type it is right under the taming bar.
When you have an upgraded Active Geniemon, you can put Inactive Geniemon in those white circles (Image via Hero Games)In order to use an Inactive Geniemon in Duet Night Abyss, you need to equip them to an Active Geniemon. Now, in order to do that, the Active Geniemon in question needs to at least be Phase 1 or higher. At Phase 1, an Active Geniemon unlocks a Trait Slot (White Circles around your Geniemon in the Armory menu).
If you want to upgrade an Active Geniemon to higher Phases, you need to max their level out, and Ascend them. An example is that Phase 1 requires Yum Milk, which comes from Immersive Theatre, which is used to unlock a variety of things like characters, Secret Letter Clues for new characters/weapons, and more.
Once you’ve got an open trait slot, you can then click that Active Geniemon Trait Slot, and equip an Inactive Geniemon to it, adding their passive trait to the Active Geniemon in Duet Night Abyss. The only time you will see an Active Geniemon with a slot already available when you recruit it, it’s because it’s a Shiny. Those have four slots, and one is already unlocked.
If you get enough of the same kind, you can make their passive even greater (Image via Hero Games)There’s another thing you can do with Inactive Geniemon, and that’s enhance the level of their passive. There are four ranks, Green, Blue, Purple, Gold. If you have Inactive Geniemon that share the same trait, you can fuse them together to increase the rarity and power of that trait.
However the higher the rarity, the more of them you need. If you’re worried about accidentally using these Geniemon, you can lock that trait down in Geniemon Traits Archive in the Inactive Tab. Just click the desired trait, click Auto-Lock on obtain, and then click confirm.
There are plenty of amazing Inactive Geniemon abilities out there. No matter how you play, there are great passive combos for you to create for your Actives (Image via Hero Games)This will prevent them from being used as fodder to level up other Geniemon while you play. Of course, the more Inactive Geniemon you find, the better your chances of being able to use incredible passives on your Actives are.
That means you need plenty of Silverite to make Yum Treats. I also recommend having the Boxy Geniemon, because his active ability will show you if there are Geniemon you can recruit nearby.
