LA Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was under the spotlight over his reaction to Sherrone Moore's firing from the Michigan Wolverines football team and subsequent arrest. The veteran coach addressed the situation on Friday, saying he learned about it like the rest of the world.

“Still processing that. Heard that. Chad Jessup told me, one of our equipment guys when we were coming off the field Thursday. Still processing that like a lot of people I’m sure,” Harbaugh said.

Fans didn't buy that explanation, and the criticism against Harbaugh didn't take long to arrive. Many called out Harbaugh, implying that he knew all about the relationship all this time.

"What a completely dishonest fool," another fan wrote.

The criticism didn't stop. More fans were convinced Harbaugh wasn't new to this situation.

"Dirtbag," one fan said. "No way he found out on Thursday," another fan said. "Processing all the dirt Sherrone has on everyone the last 5 years," another fan said.

Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore worked together in Michigan from 2018 through 2023. Moore initially joined the team as tight ends coach before Harbaugh promoted him to offensive coordinator. When Harbaugh was suspended twice in 2023, first for recruiting violations and then for the sign-stealing scandal, Moore served as interim head coach. Moore took the team to an 18-8 record in two seasons.

Jason Whitlock calls out Jim Harbaugh for promoting Sherrone Moore as his replacement in Michigan

The Sherrone Moore situation has drawn a lot of attention, even beyond college football. Veteran analyst Jason Whitlock criticized Harbaugh for pushing the Wolverines to name Moore as his replacement once he left to coach the Chargers. On Thursday's episode of his "Fearless" podcast, Whitlock didn't mince words when discussing Harbaugh's decision.

"(Moore) was an unqualified DEI (diversity, equality, and inclusion) hire from the jump. There's no way he should have succeeded Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh, having previously coached for the San Francisco 49ers, having been the head coach of Colin Kaepernick, he is a great guy, a great head coach, a great Catholic. But he's got a little tiny bit of woke in him."

The Wolverines are looking for a new head coach now, while Jim Harbaugh is closer to advancing to the NFL playoffs for the second consecutive season.
