The DP World Tour introduced the Rory McIlroy Award to honor the European's Grand Slam achievement. McIlroy finally won the Masters Tournament in the 2025 season, completing his Grand Slam by winning all four major tournaments on the PGA Tour circuit.
McIlroy became the first European golfer to complete a career grand slam. To honor his achievement, the DP World Tour will give away an award bearing his name to the best-performing golfer across all four majors every season, 2026 onwards.
After the news broke, McIlroy expressed his happiness. He said (via Scotsman):
“To have something named after you, that will be presented to future generations of players, is a huge honour and it is very humbling…It certainly means a lot to me because the DP World Tour was where I started my career. I’ve always loved playing on it and, of course, representing Europe and the tour in the Ryder Cup.”Rory McIlroy has won five major tournaments so far, and he won his last major, the Masters Tournament, by defeating Justin Rose in a playoff.
