Russell Westbrook delivered one of the biggest moments of the night during the Sacramento Kings’ contest against the Houston Rockets on Sunday. His clutch three-pointer that forced the game into overtime has drawn plenty of praise, but that was not the only part of his performance that stood out.

After the game, a reporter made sure to highlight Westbrook’s rebounding prowess as well. What started as a praise quickly turned into a hilarious exchange, with Westbrook jokingly being left offended by the half-hearted compliment.

"Obviously, you're one of the better or the best rebounding guard,” a reporter said.

"I didn't hear you," Westbrook interrupted.

"The best," the reporter responded. "There you go...don't play around with it,” Westbrook said.

In just 29 minutes, Russell Westbrook finished with 21 points and four assists. However, he was particularly dominant on the glass, grabbing 13 rebounds, including six on the offensive end.

Westbrook’s all-around effort played a major role in Sacramento snapping its five-game losing streak and clinching a 125-124 overtime win over Houston.

Russell Westbrook hopes win vs Houston sparks a momentum change for Sacramento

The Sacramento Kings have been going through a rough stretch, losing nine of their last 10 games heading into Sunday’s matchup. Despite that pressure, the team erased a 14-point deficit to put an end to this bleeding.

The comeback win highlighted the Kings’ resilience. It also left Russell Westbrook believing this could be the turning point they have been searching for.

“I don't care how we did it, but we got away. As long as we got away from this thing, we got away and now we can move forward,” Westbrook said. “Just put the best foot forward, try to stack up some wins and put our best foot forward on competing.”

Sacramento has challenging games on its schedule, hosting the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks before heading out to face the LA Lakers and LA Clippers to close out the calendar year.

However, this latest victory could provide a major boost in confidence, instilling the belief within the camp that they can be competitive against some of the league’s strongest teams.

At 7-22, the Kings are currently tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for the 15th spot in the standings. Sacramento will be eager to change that and avoid sitting alone at the bottom of the standings heading into 2026.
