A recent report has revealed that Dominik Mysterio suffered an injury during a tag team match at AAA Guerra de Titanes in Guadalajara, where he joined forces with El Grande Americano against his father, Rey Mysterio, and Rey Fenix. If the report is true, Dominik might be forced to drop the Intercontinental Championship to a 44-year-old superstar in a shocking twist.
Last Saturday at the AAA event, 'Dirty' Dom landed awkwardly on his right shoulder during a sequence in his match. He quickly grabbed his shoulder, signaling that he was in excruciating pain. Given this incident, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has speculated that it might be a shoulder dislocation, which could sideline the Intercontinental Champion.
If this is confirmed, in an unexpected turn of events, Adam Pearce might have to strip Dominik Mysterio of the Intercontinental Title. To ensure that the gold remains with The Judgment Day, the RAW general manager might award it to Finn Balor, similar to how Roxanne Perez became one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions when Liv Morgan was injured.

Currently, The Prince appears to be the only active male member of the heel faction after reports of JD McDonagh's and Dominik's injuries. Hence, there is no other member who could hold the Intercontinental Championship, aside from the 44-year-old superstar.
Additionally, since Finn Balor has long wanted to become the Intercontinental Champion, authorities might now consider giving him a chance at the title. If this happens, Balor might eventually take over the leadership of the faction as part of a blockbuster storyline.
While it is unlikely for Adam Pearce to hand the IC Title over to Finn Balor, it is not entirely out of the question. It will be interesting to see what actions Pearce will take if Dominik Mysterio's injury is confirmed.
Dominik Mysterio to return as a babyface after a potential hiatus due to injury?
If the abovementioned scenario happens, Dominik Mysterio might eventually return to the squared circle as a babyface. Since there have been rumors of his face turn, the creative team might decide to develop this storyline once he recovers from his potential injury.
Since WWE is entering a new year, Dominik's return could happen early next year, depending on the severity of his injury. His comeback might take place during the lead-up to WrestleMania 42, where he could potentially challenge Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship at The Show of Shows. However, this angle is mere speculation, and nothing has been confirmed.
