The Miami Dolphins have been reshaping their roster in a major way this offseason. Though most of those moves have been cuts and trades.
Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill were both cut, and another star on offense, Jaylen Waddle, joined them in departing the Dolphins. Except that Waddle was part of a blockbuster trade to the Denver Broncos.
The return, which ESPN's Adam Schefter reported was a first, third, and fourth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, was a "fantastic haul" according to PFF's Trevor Sikkema.
Dolphins land 'fantastic haul' for Jaylen Waddle trade
"A few things: 1. Fantastic haul to get for the Dolphins," Sikkema posted on Twitter/x after the blockbuster Waddle trade.
The full details of the trade had the Dolphins sending their fourth-round pick along with Waddle to the Broncos for Denver's first-round pick, their third-round pick, and their fourth-round pick.
It's a blockbuster trade that came out of nowhere. There were rumors that the Broncos had a fun addition lined up, but with Waddle rumors seeming to die down, there wasn't much warning before this blockbuster trade was broken.
But, while it stings for the Dolphins to lose Waddle, the return they got is a great one. Three picks, including the 30th overall pick, are a great value for Waddle coming off an okay season in 2025.

In his last year with the Dolphins, Waddle had 910 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 64 receptions. He had begun his career with three straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards, but the last two years, he's fallen below that mark.
New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is tearing down the Dolphins roster, and while the cuts of Hill and Tagovailoa, along with Bradley Chubb, didn't net the team anything, this blockbuster trade will give the Dolphins some extra ammo to work with going forward.
Sikkema believes this is a "fantastic" return for the Dolphins, and it makes sense. They're landing a third and a first-round pick, along with a fourth-round pick swap (different by roughly 20 spots) for giving up Waddle.
Miami is moving into a future without a lot of its players from the last few years, and Waddle's stunning trade is one of the more surprising moves of the offseason.
