Dolphins find Tyreek Hill's replacement with one-year deal for speedy 5-foot-9 Rams WR

Coming into the 2026 offseason, Jeff Halfey and Jon-Eric Sullivan knew they were going to be operating with a lot less money than other teams thanks to the massive $99.2 million dead cap hit for moving on from Tua Tagovailoa.

But that doesn't mean they cannot add players. They've signed Malik Willis for $67.5 million over three years to replace Tagovailoa. And now, they're adding Tyreek Hill's replacement in a 5-foot-9 wide receiver from the Los Angeles Rams.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are in agreement with Tutu Atwell on a one-year contract in free agency. Atwell, after a few years with the Rams and a Super Bowl ring, is coming to the Dolphins in free agency.

Dolphins to sign Tutu Atwell to one-year deal

"Dolphins are signing former Rams free-agent wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year deal, per source. Atwell is from Miami and now returns home," Schefter reports.

While Atwell, the 26-year-old wide receiver who was a 2021 second-round pick, hasn't lived up to the hype of a second-rounder, he's shown some flashes in his career.

Last offseason, he re-signed with the Rams on a $10 million one-year deal. But in 10 games, Atwell only put up six receptions on 15 targets for 192 yards and one touchdown.

He's a speedy deep-threat wide receiver and would be a solid match for a Hill replacement in Miami. While the skillset might be similar, there is a talent discrepancy.

Still, Atwell, who has had some solid performances over the years, is a nice pickup for the Dolphins this offseason.

In 2024, Atwell had 562 yards on 42 receptions, and in 2023, he had 483 yards and three touchdowns on 39 receptions.

He's a boom-or-bust receiver, but for the Dolphins, with a strong number one and needing a field-stretcher, Atwell is a solid free agent addition.
