Dodgers sign ex-Padres, Guardians left-hander with ghastly 5.79 ERA

The Los Angeles Dodgers already have a surplus of arms on their pitching staff.

However, it never hurts to add depth.

According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet, the Dodgers are in agreement with left-hander Logan Allen on a minor league contract. He is not to be confused with the right-hander of the same name with the Cleveland Guardians

Allen, 28, spent last season in South Korea with the KBO's NC Dinos, posting a 4.53 ERA with 149 strikeouts in 173 innings. He made two appearances in this year's World Baseball Classic with Canada.

Allen chooses minor league contract over stint in Mexican League

"Davidi writes that Allen was set to sign with a Mexican League team for 2026. He got the WBC nod and pitched twice for Team Canada, working 3 1/3 innings of one-run ball," Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Thursday. "He impressed Dodgers evaluators enough to instead land a new affiliated ball opportunity. He’ll begin the season as rotation or long relief depth for Triple-A Oklahoma City."

Allen's Major League career began in 2019 and includes stints over parts of five seasons with the San Diego Padres, Guardians, Baltimore Orioles, and Arizona Diamondbacks

He brings value as a swingman, with the ability to make starts and pitch out of the bullpen. But again, the Dodgers' staff is already crowded.
