The Los Angeles Dodgers are, unsurprisingly, the World Series favorites for the 2026 season. But, beyond their postseason odds, the individual performances will be eye-catching this year.

For Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers' best player and, according to ESPN, the first-ranked player in all of MLB, this upcoming season could be a big one.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez predicts that Ohtani will finish the year with some remarkable statistics, finishing top-five in both the Cy Young and MVP voting by season's end.

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani predicted to finish top-five in MVP, Cy Young voting

"At the plate, .980 OPS, 45 home runs, 20 stolen bases. On the mound: 2.65 ERA, 160 innings, 213 strikeouts," Gonzalez predicts. "The result: a third-place finish in Cy Young and a fifth MVP."

Ohtani is already putting together one of the best careers ever in the history of not just Major League Baseball, but professional sports.

Being able to not only hit at a high level but pitch at such a high level as well makes Ohtani one of the clear best players ever.

The 31-year-old superstar being predicted to win an MVP isn't that surprising, as he's won four such awards already in his eight-year MLB career, including three straight seasons from 2023 through 2025.

As a pitcher, he's only had one Cy Young finish, placing fourth in 2022, which, ironically, was the only year of his last five seasons when he didn't win MVP, as he was the runner-up to Aaron Judge.

But, Gonzalez is predicting that Ohtani will have one of the best seasons ever, finishing first in MVP voting, and third in Cy Young voting with some ridiculously good statistics.

Ohtani is on his way to the Hall of Fame, and if Gonzalez's prediction were to come true, there would be no doubt that he would be a first-ballot and unanimous Hall of Famer.
