Dodgers receive huge Shohei Ohtani update on knee injury after MRI

1 hour ago 3

During Thursday night's win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Los Angeles Dodgers got a very significant injury scare, with Shohei Ohtani leaving the game early due to a knee issue.

The next day, against the Chicago White Sox, Ohtani wasn't in the lineup, giving fans even more reason to be worried about the superstar this season.

But, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports that the Dodgers, according to manager Dave Roberts, got some big news on Ohtani's knee injury that is a sigh of relief for the fanbase.

Dodgers get big Shohei Ohtani knee injury update

"Shohei Ohtani had imaging done on his left knee today, Dave Roberts said, which came back clean," Ardaya reports. "Dodgers just wanted to give him an extra day."

This report alone is already a good sign for the Dodgers with Ohtani's injury following an MRI, but the comment that Ardaya included from Roberts, "Not an IL situation," is even better news.

If Ohtani doesn't land on the injured list, he would avoid having to miss at least 10 days, and potentially another start or two depending on how his knee injury recovery is going.

While it's still a concerning issue, and one to keep track of going forward, this update is at least a sigh of relief that Ohtani's injury might not be too serious.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today also reports that Roberts believes that Ohtani will not only get into the lineup this weekend against the red-hot White Sox, but that he will also be in line for his next start of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ohtani is still out of the lineup on Friday night, and his knee injury is still one to watch until he's officially back in the lineup and on the mound.

But, for now, this injury situation doesn't seem overly concerning based on the updates from Roberts on Friday afternoon, with Ohtani seeming likely to avoid any lengthy absence due to this issue.
