Dodgers predicted to make Tarik Skubal trade decision to irritate all of MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again the World Series favorites this season. It's a stacked roster with elite pitching in both the bullpen and rotation, and a top-tier offense that can go blow-for-blow with the best in the league.

So, with the MLB trade deadline less than a week away, is there anything this team really needs? Well, unfortunately for the rest of Major League Baseball, the Dodgers have a need in the starting rotation.

Why is that a bad thing for the rest of MLB? Well, as USA Today's Bob Nightengale predicts, the Dodgers will trade for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, their rotation needs could lead to a blockbuster deal that'd irritate the rest of Major League Baseball.

"The Dodgers are so loaded with prized minor-league outfielders they could hand them out for Halloween, and still be fine. Yes, they may not need Skubal, they'd love just to keep him away from everyone else," Nightengale writes.

While the Dodgers might not necessarily need Skubal on paper with their stacked rotation, they could justify a deal simply by the fact that they have plenty of good outfield prospects to trade, and they could block their top competition from landing Skubal.

But, with Shohei Ohtani's injury keeping him off the mound, there is an actual reason for the Dodgers to consider trading for Skubal this summer.

Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are also injured at the moment, and while they can return, there's no telling how good they'll be once they're back.

Adding Skubal would give the Dodgers insurance in the rotation while also adding maybe one of the only players who could legitimately improve the team's World Series chances this summer.

Nightengale is predicting the Dodgers trade for Skubal this summer, "and once they have him, well, they might as well keep him," and sign him to a long-term contract extension as well.

That series of events would irritate the rest of Major League Baseball, as it would mean the Dodgers continue to add the best players and keep them long-term.
