Dodgers make lineup changes with Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith

The Los Angeles Dodgers are making some changes.

Their lineup for Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night will not be the same that they trotted out there for the first four games.

At the bottom, Andy Pages is on the bench and Alex Call plays centerfield and bats ninth. That could prove key, of course.

But the big names have also moved around.

Shohei Ohtani remains in the leadoff spot. It's the next three spots behind him that have changed.

Will Smith has moved into the No. 2 slot in the Dodgers' lineup. The catcher had spent the first four games of the series batting fourth.

The previous No. 2 hitter, Mookie Betts, has bumped down one spot. He'll bat third.

The cleanup spot is now occupied by Freddie Freeman. He had previously been batting third, behind Betts and ahead of Smith.

Through the first four games of the World Series, Betts is only hitting .158. His timing has been a bit off as he's flew out softly to right field a handful of times.

Freeman is batting .294 and had his key walk-off home run in Game 3 in the 18th inning.

Smith is batting .235 with a home run and a .762 OPS.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts likely just hopes that mixing things up a bit freshens things up the day after a 6-2 loss.

The series is tied 2-2, and after Game 5, it heads back to Toronto for the remainder. So the Dodgers have an important night on their hands.
