Questions have been raised about what Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani wants to do if the Los Angeles Dodgers decide to change things up in the ownership group.
Questions have been raised about that happening, though the latest report suggests that no matter who runs the Dodgers, Ohtani still wants to be in Los Angeles.
His contract allows him to opt out of his deal if controlling owner Mark Walter or president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman leaves the organization. With the Walter situation at the forefront of sports news, reports suggest they don't have much to worry about.
“While if Mark Walter is no longer the controlling partner of the Dodgers, a person close to Shohei Ohtani said that even if Walter changes his mind and sells the franchise, Ohtani is definitely staying put,” Bob Nightengale wrote.
It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for Ohtani to ever opt out of this deal, simply because no other team in Major League Baseball is probably going to pay him as much as the Dodgers.
Perhaps he's willing to take a discount, but for a guy who's arguably the best we've ever seen, it's tough to get a feel for what he's truly looking for right now.
