Dodgers beloved slugger could dump LA for Red Sox amid negotiations stalling

The Los Angeles Dodgers brought in Blake Snell and extended Tommy Edman this offseason. However, they have not been able to come to terms with one of their own free agents.

According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Teoscar Hernández and the Dodgers are at a crossroads in contract negotiations. He is seeking a three-year deal between $66 million and $72 million. However, if the Dodgers cannot come to terms with him, the Boston Red Sox could swoop in and sign him as they wanted to do last offseason.

MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo noted that the Red Sox made Hernández an offer. Hernández rejected their two-year, $28 million deal and signed a one-year, prove-it deal with the Dodgers. He had a career year and is set to cash in.

He had 33 home runs and 99 RBIs while being selected to his second All-Star Game. The Red Sox were involved in the outfield market when they went after Juan Soto. Hernández is nowhere near the prize that Soto could have been., However, he is a great player and could bring serious power to the Red Sox.

Hernández has a .950 OPS and 14 home runs in 45 games at Fenway Park. The Red Sox are in need of an outfielder that brings power and Hernández is one of the top available bats on the market right now. He could easily land a deal with the Red Sox if the Dodgers are not willing to make him the offer he is looking for.

Hernández has noted his desire to stay with the Dodgers, but the team may not be willing to make it happen at any cost.
