Dodgers acquire right-handed pitcher in post-deadline trade with Blue Jays

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays have made a trade. 

Major League Baseball's trade deadline was August 3, but trades of minor leaguers are still allowed. 

Today, the Dodgers announced that they've acquired right-hander Sebastian Rodriguez from the Blue Jays in exchange for fellow righty Jose Rodriguez. 

The second-listed Rodriguez signed with the Dodgers as an international free agent from Mexico in 2019. 

The 25-year-old has reached as high as Triple-A in the minors, posting a 4.71 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 33 hits in 33 appearances out of Triple-A Oklahoma City's bullpen.

Rodriguez has a chance to earn a promotion to the Majors with the Blue Jays later this month. Likely, Toronto would have to have fallen out of the postseason race. 

Sebastian Rodriguez is not as close to the Majors as his counterpart. The relief pitcher just turned 20 on August 13 and posted a 6.00 ERA in seven games in the Dominican Summer League. 

This may not turn out to be a significant trade for either club, but it's interesting to see last year's World Series matchup making deals with one another.
