The Kansas City Chiefs are in a weird place right now, because they're coming back from a season where they didn't even make the playoffs. So, with that in mind, the team's 53-man roster is, of course, important. They have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce back, but will that be enough to get back to where they used to be? Ahead of the 53-man roster being released, the Chiefs made some moves that show something new and different is happening in Kansas City. Really, their most telling move wasn't one thing. It's a greater trend that you easily see on this roster.

This week, ESPN released a tally with the most significant roster moves for each NFL team. For the Chiefs, it wasn't a cut or addition. It was a trend.
The Chiefs are young. They're relying on rookie talent.
"Although the Chiefs didn't have any major surprises, the biggest trend with their roster is just how many young players are featured throughout," Nate Taylor of ESPN notes. "Because the Chiefs are relying on a large rookie class, the defense has just two veterans who are older than 30: pass rusher Chris Jones and linebacker Drue Tranquill."
He adds that the same is the case on offense, with only Mahomes and Kelce. "Much of the season will be about how much the rookies and fellow young players improve," he says. It's a smart observation.
