The Phoenix Suns have been going through a frustrating first season with Jalen Green. Since getting traded from the Houston Rockets during the offseason, he's played in just four games while dealing with a lingering hamstring strain.
But little did we know that Green may not have been the main piece for Phoenix in the deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.
In his first year with the team, Dillon Brooks has stepped up and stepped up big. In the Suns' dominant win over the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, Brooks made a convincing case for including himself in All-Star talks.
Dillon Brooks drops career-high in points while leading Suns to dominant win over No. 1 seed Pistons
Brooks, 30, has been having the best season of his nine-year NBA career with the Suns.
In 41 games, the usual defensive anchor has hit a new gear, averaging 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while adding 1.1 steals on the defensive side.
He continued this momentum in the Suns' 114-96 win over the Pistons on Thursday night, finishing with a career-high 40 points while shooting 13-for-22 from the field, adding eight rebounds and four assists.
Many thought that we knew what Dillon Brooks provided to a team after getting traded to the Suns, but this new-look player has brought his career best in his ninth year in the NBA.
If the 30-year-old out of Oregon can keep this up, who says Dillon Brooks can't be an All-Star in 2026?
