Too soon: Bears QB Caleb Williams reacts to unwelcome Rams surprise

1 hour ago 3

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams recently took part in a promotional unboxing, but the surprise inside was anything but ideal.

The moment took place at Canon Collectibles in Beverly Hills, California, where Williams opened a Fanatics Under Wraps Mystery Box — a product that guarantees a signed NFL jersey from a random player. Rather than pulling his own name, Williams revealed a jersey belonging to Puka Nacua, a player who played a role in ending Chicago’s season.

Nacua caught five passes for 56 yards against the Bears in the divisional round, a game Chicago lost to the Los Angeles Rams in overtime. As he realized whose jersey it was, Williams smiled, shook his head and said, “Damn you, Puka.”

The reaction was lighthearted, but the meaning was clear. The Rams’ season ended the following week with a loss to the Seahawks in the NFC championship, but for a franchise long defined by missed opportunities, 2025 represented a turning point for Chicago.

The Bears exceeded preseason expectations, played meaningful football in January and matched up competitively with an established contender. In just two years, the Bears appear to have found the most talented quarterback the franchise has ever had.

The Nacua jersey was an ironic twist, but also a telling one. Chicago no longer wants to be considered second fiddle to the Green Bay Packers in the division or anyone in the NFC for that matter.

They have bigger goals now that Williams is in town.
