Did Hilary Duff give a shout-out to Leonardo DiCaprio in her new song, Mature? Lyrics decoded

Hilary Duff has released a new song, Mature, which appears to reference Leonardo DiCaprio in its lyrics. The track marks Duff's first single in 10 years and was released late on Thursday, November 6.

Hilary Duff returned to music with a single named Mature on Thursday. The song displays her current self in conversation with her younger self. In the music video, one version of the actor is seen dancing on the stage, while the other is sitting in the audience. The latter then starts singing before walking out and dancing in the lobby.

The Lizzie McGuire star has also referenced Leonardo DiCaprio in her lyrics, as part of it reads:

"She’s me / I’m her / In a different font / Just a few years younger / A new haircut. Very Leo of you / With your Scorpio touch / Now now.”

It appears to give a shoutout to Leonardo DiCaprio, whose zodiac sign is Scorpio. He is also known for dating women much younger than him. The 50-year-old star is currently dating a 27-year-old model named Vittoria Ceretti.

Duff, meanwhile, has written Mature with her husband, Matthew Koma, and Madison Love. It's unclear if this track will be followed by a studio album or a tour as well.

Hilary Duff opens up on Mature and returning to music

The actor-singer released her fifth and last studio album, Breathe In. Breathe Out, on June 12, 2015. She had been away from music since then before returning with her single, Mature, on Thursday.

In an interview with Variety, published on October 27, Hilary Duff said that she was always going to return to music, stating:

“I always knew I was going to return to music. I needed to feel safe and I needed to have the right people in my corner and be absolutely 100% ready. Honestly, I needed to have 10 years of life under my belt. I needed a lot to say. This album feels like the inner workings of my brain and I really am so excited to connect with people again on that level, that very forward-facing level.”

Duff had announced her new song on November 3 this year via Instagram stories. Following the release, she explained:

"‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self. The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink and a sense of being grateful that we are sure-footed in where we landed.”

Meanwhile, Hilary Duff also signed to Atlantic Records in September this year ahead of releasing her new music. In her interview with Variety, she said that she can't reveal too much about her future plans, but added that things are "in motion".

Duff also announced in September that a docuseries based on her life and return to music is in the works. It will be directed by Sam Wrench, who also made A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
