Did Cody Rhodes really get injured at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event? Analyzing the horrific incident

At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, Cody Rhodes had a match against Oba Femi, where the NXT star pushed him to his limits. The American Nightmare got overpowered, but the match eventually ended when Drew McIntyre caused a disqualification.

However, during the match, Rhodes' ear busted open, and it started bleeding. This horrific incident looked to have taken place after Oba executed an uppercut on the Undisputed Champion ringside on the announcer's table.

The way Rhodes' ear was cut suggests this spot wasn't planned, and he actually suffered an ear injury at Saturday Night's Main Event. The commentary team also mentioned that Cody had busted open his ear in this match.

All this confirms that the American Nightmare actually suffered this horrific injury at the special show, even though there is a belief that Drew McIntyre disrupted the match earlier due to Rhodes's real-life injury.

As of writing, there is no official update from WWE regarding the medical status of the 40-year-old star. The company may provide an update in the post-show of Saturday Night's Main Event.

The injury doesn't appear to be that serious, but we at Sportskeeda hope that Cody Rhodes is okay after the incident and recovers soon.

What's next for Cody Rhodes after WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

Drew McIntyre attacked Cody Rhodes at SNME and made it clear that he is not done with the American Nightmare yet. This means that after tonight, WWE will move forward with the idea of Rhodes vs McIntyre for the Undisputed Title.

The next Premium Live Event for the company is Royal Rumble 2026, scheduled for January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WWE is expected to announce a rubber match between McIntyre and Rhodes for this PLE.

However, if WWE has other plans for Rhodes and Drew for Royal Rumble 2026, the first episode of SmackDown in 2026 might be the ideal place. Already, CM Punk is set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker in the first show of Monday Night RAW in 2026.

So a similar pattern could be followed by the Triple H-led promotion for the Cody vs Drew feud on the blue brand. The rubber match will serve as a fitting opportunity for the latter to seek revenge for his previous losses.
