Diane Keaton’s daughter is reflecting on the best parts about her mom.

Over six months after Diane’s death, her daughter Dexter Keaton White, whom she adopted in 1996, detailed what she misses most about her in an emotional Mother’s Day post.

First Mother’s Day without you,” Dexter wrote in a May 10 post. “I miss you more than words can say. Missing her voice, her hugs, her presence, and everything that made her home.”

Alongside the carousel of sweet photos of her and her mom over the years, Dexter added, “I love you mom.”

Later, Dexter—who married husband Jordan White in 2021—shared the post to her Instagram Story and added one more thing she loved most about the Book Club actress.

“I miss smiling with you,” she wrote. “I just miss you mom.”

Dexter’s emotional post comes just over six months after Diane died at age 79 following a battle with pneumonia. In the months since, Dexter and her 26-year-old brother Duke—whom Diane adopted in 2001—revealed they got tattoos to honor her.

In a Jan. 5 post, Dexter wrote a thank you note to the tattoo artist for the “forever reminder of my wonderful mom.”

In an accompanying photo, Dexter revealed her tattoo, a nod to Diane’s role in Annie Hall as “La Di Da.”

Meanwhile, Duke also referenced the film with his tattoo that reads, “Weird old world.”

Over the years, Diane, who became a mom in her 50s, was open about her love for single motherhood.

"Motherhood was not an urge I couldn't resist,” Diane admitted to the Ladies’ Home Journal in 2008. “It was more like a thought I'd been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.”

Indeed, while Diane admitted she hoped to be in a “strong and substantive” relationship before pursuing motherhood, she called adoption “the single greatest thing” she’d done in her life.

“It just changes everything,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2007. “I mean, your life has purpose.”
