Per recent reports, Connor Brown of the New Jersey Devils has been added to the roster for Team Canada in the upcoming Men's World Hockey Championship.
Hockey correspondent Dave McCarthy was the first to report, followed by Devils' beat reporter Kristy Flannery. The 2026 IIHF Men's World Championship is slated to take place in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland from May 15-31. Team USA will enter the tournament as the defending gold medalist, with Canada hunting its first gold medal at the event since 2023.
The news of Brown being added comes after recent news that Macklin Celebrini, Mark Scheifele, Mathew Barzal, Morgan Rielly and Penn State forward/projected No. 1 overall pick in the approaching NHL Draft Gavin McKenna will all also be representing Canada in Switzerland.
Brown previously played for the Edmonton Oilers on his career stat sheet from 2023-25, and was signed by New Jersey as a free agent in July of 2025.

Brown's contract with the Devils is currently listed as a four-year, $12 million deal, which was also signed on July 1, 2025.
The Toronto native recorded 43 points for the Devils in the 2026-27 season, including 18 goals and 25 assists.

In regards to the previously listed players of Celebrini and McKenna — Celebrini finished the 2025-26 NHL season with 115 points, setting a new single-season franchise record for the Sharks, surpassing Joe Thornton's 114-point season in 2006-07 and also represented Hockey Canada at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics to win a silver medal. McKenna finished tied for fifth in the NCAA with 51 points.
Brown, a right wing, is known for the speed and consistency he brings to the lineup in New Jersey — paired with a strong impact on specials teams. Throughout the year, he was on the ice for 16 goals on the man advantage.
"Coming into the season, I signed here because I liked a lot of the makeup of this team. I've played against these guys and [there's] a lot of good skill on this club," Brown said recently at Devils' exit interviews on joining the franchise. "It's just taking steps in the right direction."
Canada posted a perfect 6-0 record in round robin robin play last year at the Men’s World Hockey Championship before then being upset by Denmark, 2-1, in the quarter-final.
