A legendary wrestling star and former WWE Champion is currently injured. Bobby Lashley signed with AEW after parting ways with the former employer.
MVP recently revealed on AEW Collision: Winter is Coming that Bobby Lashley was dealing with an injury. Lashley last competed in the Casino Gauntlet Match for the vacant AEW National title at AEW Full Gear on November 22. The match was won by Ricochet, becoming the new National Champion. The absence is a major blow to the group which has become a dominant force in the company since Lashley showed up back in 2024.
The new details suggest that the situation is more serious than initially believed. According to the latest reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the injury is legitimate and considered significant. The exact nature of the issue has not been made public. As a consequence of this, Lashley is now expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future and will not be featured regularly on AEW TV. In his absence, his Hurt Syndicate partner Shelton Benjamin will be competing primarily in singles action, unless the Tony Khan-led creative decides to introduce another member to fill out the group while Lashley recovers.
Bobby Lashley is a former two-time WWE Champion
During his final run in WWE, Bobby Lashley became a major singles star. He won the WWE Championship during a episode of RAW back in 2021. The star later lost the title to Big E, who had cashed in his Money in the bank contract.
After that, the star got into a personal rivalry with WCW legend Goldberg. Lashley once again found his way back to the championship winning the gold at the Royal Rumble 2022. The All Mighty also had a huge rivalry with Brock Lesnar that culminated in a trilogy of matches.
Before his departure from the company, Lashley was moved to SmackDown and paired with the Street Profits.
