Former WWE star David Otunga recently suffered a major personal loss. He is mourning the loss of his family member.

The former member of WWE's Original Nexus hasn't been active in the ring for a decade, but continues to stay in contact with his fans.

Earlier today, Otunga took to his Instagram handle to announce the passing of his beloved cousin, Bryan.

In his lengthy Instagram post, the 45-year-old former WWE star shared a montage of their memories and poured his heart out to honor his late friend's memory.

"Yesterday, I lost my cousin and best friend Bryan. I’m overwhelmed right now trying to find words to say that I never thought I would ever have to say. How do I find words worthy enough to encapsulate our bond? Bryan was with me from the beginning. I took him with me on the road and gave him a job as my assistant. Really, I just wanted my best friend with me while I was on the road. Bryan was not only there with me for every major accomplishment or milestone, but he was also right there with me for every setback or hard time. Nobody ever had my back like Bryan. Nobody could tell him anything negative about David Otunga."

David Otunga continued:

"I have a hole in my heart that will never be filled, without him. The only thing getting me through right now is that I know I have gained another guardian angel and I know he will be with me always. Now I can talk to him whenever I want. If you thought my life was lit before, just wait until you see all the doors my new guardian angel helps open for me and steer me to... Here is a random post he made thanking me for purchasing his book. Bryan would always hype me up and thank me for changing his life, but I never got the chance to thank him for changing mine too. I love you Cuz. Rest in Heaven Lil Bryan 🙏🏽❤️"

Has former WWE Superstar David Otunga retired from in-ring competition?

Speaking to Jonathan Coachman on the Behind The Turnbuckle Studios' The Coach and Bro Show, David Otunga clarified that he is not officially retired from wrestling despite his prolonged absence from the business.

"Oh, all of it. All of it. Are you kidding me? No. I love that. That's what I wanted to do since I was a kid. I absolutely love it. I mean, I never said I was done. There are a lot of different things I do, and there are a lot of different hats that I wear, but I just haven't wrestled in a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm retired."

Since leaving WWE, the former Nexus member has shifted his focus to acting and other outside ventures.

Otunga is a Harvard lawyer who previously worked at one of the largest law firms, Sidley Austin. He also runs his YouTube channel to provide his expertise.

Will he return to WWE for one last run? Only time will tell.
