Chelsea fans are furious with winger Alejandro Garnacho after his performance against Newcastle United in the 2-2 Premier League draw on Saturday, December 20. Many believe that his chances were the key reason why Enzo Maresca's side could not get the three points at St. James' Park.
Newcastle United took an early lead in the game with Nick Woltemade scoring from close range after Robert Sanchez's stunning save stopped Anthony Gordon's effort. The German striker made it 2-0 to the home side halfway through the first half, diverting in a cross from Gordon.
The Magpies had several chances to score more goals in the first half, but failed to find the back of the net. They held on to their lead and went into the break with the scoreline intact at 2-0.
Chelsea came out all guns blazing in the second half, with captain Reece James scoring a stunning free kick to make it 2-1. Sanchez played a brilliant ball to Joao Pedro, and the Brazilian made no mistake after beating his marker and making it 2-2 six minutes after the hour mark.
Garnacho had several chances to score in the game, but the former Manchester United star could not find the back of the net. His efforts were either off target or easily saved by Aaron Ramsdale, and the Chelsea fans were not happy.

Reece James on Chelsea managing a draw at Newcastle United
Chelsea captain Reece James spoke to TNT Sports after the 2-2 at Newcastle United, admitting that they were focused on avoiding a defeat after going behind in the first half. He said:
"It was clearly a game of two halves, They got the better of us in every department [in the first half]. We started the second half quickly and the game turned quickly. I have been taking free-kicks all my life. To execute one when we needed to pull something out the bag was a great feeling." "We couldn't win today, but it's important when you can't win not to lose. The messages [at half-time] were more demanding, more effort... there were too many second balls they won in the first half that we needed to tighten up on. And we did that in the second half."The Blues stay fourth in the Premier League table and will go into Christmas in the Top 4 unless Sunderland, Crystal Palace, or Manchester United win by more than 8 goals.
