David Montgomery stirs Lions exit with cryptic post and liking fan’s “glazing Jahmyr Gibbs” comment

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery has been in the news with rumors of his exit from the NFC North franchise growing over the last few days.

Montgomery hasn't had the best season for the Lions and his social media posts have attracted attention. The Lions RB shared a collage of pictures in an Instagram post earlier this month, captioning it:

"God Grant me Humility and Gratitude and relieve me of Selfishness and Fear."

A fan commented on the post, writing:

“I love you bro, but you should request a trade. The way they’re treating you and glazing [Jahmyr] Gibbs is atrocious. Look what happens when we don’t use you. We lose.”

The Lions star liked the comment from the fan who urged him to request a trade. The running back removed his like afterwards.

Montgomery rushed 185 times for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns over 14 games last season. His numbers have dipped this season as the Lions RB has rushed 140 times for 649 yards and eight touchdowns over 15 games.

While Montgomery has seemingly taken a backseat this season, the other half of the "Sonic and Knuckles," Jahmyr Gibbs, has led the team with his stellar performances. Gibbs has 1,102 rushing yards, 560 receiving yards with 17 touchdowns.

The Lions hold an 8-7 record after their 29-24 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The loss against Pittsburgh has left the Lions in a precarious position as the NFC North franchise needs to win their remaining games against the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, while hoping their divison rivals, the Green Bay Packers, lose both their remaining games.

Detroit faces the Vikings in a must-win game on Thursday, but they are unsure of running back David Montgomery's availability for the contest as he missed Tuesday's practice due to an illness, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.
