HYBE’s original story animation DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR made in collaboration with K-pop group ENHYPEN, is set to make its global debut on January 9, 2026. The series is based on the hit webtoon of the same name, that has surpassed 200 million views across platforms. It marks a significant step in HYBE’s expanding transmedia universe, where music, storytelling, and animation intersect.

The Dark Moon narrative traces its origins back to ENHYPEN’s Drunk-Dazed music video, released on April 26, 2021, which first introduced the lore and characters. DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR is the first installment in the Dark Moon series and the first of several original stories produced by HYBE featuring ENHYPEN and &TEAM.

The webtoon has been published since January 15, 2022, and is available on Naver Series (Korean), LINE Manga (Japanese), Wattpad (English and Spanish), and Webtoon (Indonesian and Thai).

DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR's main cast: ENHYPEN as the vampires of Decelis Academy

The story is set in Riverfield, a scenic coastal town that houses the elite Decelis Academy. On the surface, seven popular students dominate the school’s signature sport, Nightball. In reality, they are vampires trying to live quietly among humans while hiding their past, relying on their bond to survive.

Their attempt at normalcy is complicated by a rival Nightball team from Sunshine City School, made up entirely of werewolves. Their lives begin to unravel when a mysterious transfer student, Sooha, arrives. As violent incidents shake Riverfield, long-buried memories resurface, and the boys’ hidden histories begin to collide with the present.

Heli is the eldest of the vampire brothers and a calm, dependable leader. He can communicate mentally with others and move objects through psychic force. Warm and patient by nature, he feels an unexplainable longing toward Sooha. This emotion is later revealed to stem from a past life in which he has loved her, though he no longer remembers it.

His vampire physiology grants him enhanced strength, speed, durability, heightened senses, immortality, blood consumption, fang and claw retraction, and psychic communication. His known enemies include Dardan and the werewolf brothers of Sunshine City School.

Jino is optimistic and emotionally honest. He does not distinguish between humans and vampires when forming bonds. His optimism helps the group maintain a relatively normal school life. His fire abilities often play a key role in critical situations.

Shion is known as a mischievous troublemaker with a wide social circle. He is direct about his feelings and acts on impulse. If he decides to befriend someone, including Sooha, he does so regardless of complications. In addition to full vampire physiology, Shion can influence others’ minds and manipulate gravity.

His physical appearance changes under moonlight or when exposed to blood, triggering glowing eyes, extended claws, fangs, and the growth of blue fur. Despite possessing full vampire abilities, his dual nature isolates him emotionally.
