The Indianapolis Colts signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a two-year extension worth $88 million that can reach $100 million, and the franchise also received a pivotal injury update on the veteran.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jones is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, and there is also a high chance he's back when training camp kicks off.
"Recovering from a torn Achilles, Colts QB Daniel Jones is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, and one source even said he expects him to be ready for training camp," Schefter said.
Jones suffered a torn Achilles tendon in December 2025, but is making fast progress and looks to be the Colts' Week 1 starter for the second straight year.
In 13 starts this past season, Jones tossed 19 touchdowns to eight interceptions and had Indianapolis in first place in the AFC South. He revived his career with the Colts, and now cashes on a lucrative short-term extension with the franchise.
With Jones back in the fold, Indianapolis will finally have some continuity at quarterback, and a ton of questions have been answered.
We'll see what other moves general manager Chris Ballard makes in free agency as the Colts work to end their five-year playoff drought in 2026.
