Now that the Maxx Crosby trade between the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens has been nixed, that would appear to give the Buffalo Bills new life.
However, that is not exactly the case, even though Buffalo was previously rumored to be one of the teams interested in a Crosby trade.
According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, the Bills are not likely to get back into the Crosby sweepstakes because of their financial situation.
"The cap situation may be too difficult to make it work," Wolfe said. "What they may have had a few weeks ago is not what they currently have."
We would like to point out that the Bills were reportedly one of the teams going after Trey Hendrickson, so maybe there's hope after all.
With the new league year set to hit at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the Bills are sitting at $2 million over the cap.
In order to trade for Crosby, Buffalo would have to add $30 million to its books because of the star edge rusher's contract, which doesn't seem feasible given the team's current situation and needs up and down the roster.
Talking about a possible Bills trade for Crosby might be a moot conversation, anyway.
After the fiasco on Tuesday night that saw the Ravens nix the trade because of a failed physical, the current expectation is that Crosby is now going to stay with Vegas.
Of course, things can certainly change and Las Vegas might end up dealing Crosby down the line, but the chances of the Bills being the team to acquire him don't look great.
