Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg card chase could hit $1.5M mark

Cooper Flagg's rookie season was unlike anything the Dallas Mavericks have seen since Luka Doncic. The 19-year-old averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals over 70 starts in 2025-26, becoming the second-youngest Rookie of the Year winner in NBA history behind LeBron James. 

Now, months after that historic debut, a real piece of his season is sitting inside a random pack of trading cards. The card features the exact jersey patch Flagg wore in his very first NBA game and the Mavs want it back so badly they’re throwing in an unthinkable 32-year season ticket package to anyone who finds it.

On Thursday, Topps dropped its Chrome Update Basketball set, featuring Cooper Flagg's 1-of-1 Rookie Debut Patch Autograph as the ultimate chase card. It features the exact jersey patch he wore in his NBA debut alongside his signature. Recalling the moment when he signed that card, he told The Athletic, "I was a little nervous... that one was a little nerve-wracking."

The card will likely sell for a historic price. Sports Cards Investor founder Geoff Wilson told ESPN he initially valued it at $1.5 million, but now thinks it could fetch up to $5 million at auction. Private collectors have already offered cash bounties of up to $3 million for whoever finds it.

To keep the card from hitting an open auction, the Mavericks posted a public trade offer the day it launched. Built around Flagg's jersey number, the package offers a swap for the exclusive 1-of-1 card.

If you find it, the team will give you two lower-level season tickets for the next 32 years, a signed, game-worn rookie jersey, a postgame photo with Flagg and private photoshoots with the Rookie of the Year and Larry O'Brien trophies. 

This bounty also includes a VIP tour of the practice facility, a private basketball session for 10 guests at American Airlines Center and an all-expenses-paid road trip to see Dallas play the Boston Celtics.

It will be really interesting to see which Mavs fan finally gets this big opportunity to trade Flagg’s rare rookie card.
